Juliet & the Licks - album review (4 stars)

Juliet & the Licks

Four on the Floor (Hassle)

While Brody Distiller’s busy being broody and all remains quiet on the Courtney front, it’s left to this Hollywood actress turned musician to out-riff the big boys. And she’s done it again with Four on the Floor; her band’s second collection of catchy rock stompers, this time featuring the rhythmic force of a certain Dave Grohl. Firing on all cylinders from start to finish, the album perfectly captures Juliette & the Licks’ notoriously crazed live performances ?" all fast and furious basslines, squealing solos and thundering drums. However, it’s Lewis’ magnificently husky and passionate delivery which makes this unabashedly fun and frolicsome listen so compelling.
