Nick Tilsley's baby shock
Ben Price has spoken about his forthcoming 'Coronation Street' storyline which sees his character Nick Tilsley learn girlfriend Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) is pregnant.
Nick Tilsley feels "pushed into a corner" when he finds out his girlfriend is pregnant.
The 'Coronation Street' factory boss - played by Ben Price - is stunned when Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) drops her bombshell after reacting badly to finding him in the middle of an emotional moment with ex-wife Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Ben said: "When Natasha tells him she's expecting, Nick feels like he's been pushed into a corner.
"He's never wanted to rush into things - she's his girlfriend, but not the love of his life. They go out for a drink, she makes his tea - it's hardly 'Wuthering Heights'. Except for her, it is like that."
Despite still having feelings for Leanne, his former spouse manages to persuade him to step up to his responsibilities.
Ben explained: "Leanne does prompt Nick to have a change of heart. Through her, he's recognised that he's messed up in the past and shouldn't run away from his responsibilities.
"Nick's conscience is telling him to be a man - the pregnancy wasn't planned, but it's happened, so why not make a go of it? He wants to support Natasha."
However, Nick's decision comes as Natasha secretly has a termination, prompting the hairdresser to try and hide her actions.
Ben told Inside Soap magazine: "Nick has no idea what Natasha has one - he just puts any funny behaviour down to the fact that she's expectant and hormonal.
"He's absolutely delighted and wants to play a full part, going to the doctors with her and so on.
"That's where the drama is - if he was in any way suspicious, it wouldn't be half as good."
It has previously been revealed that Rachel will bow out of the show later this year when her character commits suicide.
