Jack Duckworth will draw up a 'Things to do before I die' list after being diagnosed with cancer.

The 'Coronation Street' favourite -played by Bill Tarmey - will be joined by Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) on his quest to complete all his ambitions before he dies.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Phil Collinson, the producer, thinks it's a touching story. Jack's a much-loved character and deserves a decent send-off.

"There were rumours that he'd be killed in the planned tram crash but that would short-change viewers."

Bill, 69, announced his intention to quit the show earlier this year.

His character Jack will be told he has cancer in October this year before seeing out his life with some fun adventures.

It had previously been rumoured much-loved character Jack will win the lottery before he dies.

Around the time of the soap's 50th anniversary in December, bosses reportedly wanted to give him a happy ending when he lands the EuroMillions jackpot.
