Ashley Jensen happy with weight
Ashley Jensen insists she hasn't worried about losing weight since giving birth to son Francis nine months ago
Ashley Jensen didn't feel pressured to lose her baby weight straight away.
The 'Ugly Betty' actress - who has nine-month-old son Francis with husband Terence Beesley - refused to put herself on a strict diet to shed pounds quickly after birth and was happy to give in to her cravings.
She said: "I put no pressure on myself at all and I was breastfeeding so sometimes I would say, 'I need a chocolate eclair - I'm going down the road for a cake.'
"I thought I'd developed a really crazy sweet tooth but I think it was my body saying it needed extra calories. I treated breastfeeding like my job. I watched what I ate - apart from the éclairs and half a Guinness because my doctor said I could."
However she admits that living in figure conscious Los Angeles she needs to get back in shape as soon as possible.
She said: "But I know I need to whip myself into shape or everyone will say, 'Look at Ashley's body'. I had people taking photos of me six weeks after I gave birth. I got out for the first time and somebody said I looked like Margaret Thatcher. But that's just part and parcel of the job - I try not to mind."
However although Ashley is happy to get fit she wouldn't ever consider surgery.
She explained: "Yes you get older and age happens, but Botox and surgery don't sit comfortably with me. And somebody has to play the old people."
