Jim McDonald's Corrie return
Charles Lawson has revealed he is to reprise his 'Coronation Street' role as Jim McDonald later this year but fears his character will die
Jim McDonald is returning to 'Coronation Street'.
Actor Charles Lawson - who played the ex-husband of Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald from 1989 to 2000 and has made several guest appearances since then - has confirmed he will film scenes for the soap later this year but fears his alter-ego will be killed off.
He said: "I'm going back for a few episodes. I haven't seen the scripts yet. But I suspect I could get the chop.
The Northern Irish actor admitted he thinks the former army sergeant could be one of the victims of the tram crash which is set to hit the street around the time of the show's 50th anniversary.
He added: "I suspect I've probably been in the frame for it - whether or not I'm going to be, I've no idea, to be honest with you and if not I don't know what I'm going to do. But I'll be around for the 50th anniversary.
"Work's work for me. If a character gets killed I would be sad, but really I would be waiting for my next job."
The 50-year-old star recently announced he will narrate 'Corrie!', a stage version of the soap, which opens at The Lowry in Salford on August 12.
