Kate Garraway thrilled with new role
Kate Garraway has spoken of her delight at being appointed Entertainment Editor on new ITV show 'Daybreak'
Kate Garraway is "thrilled" with her new role as Entertainment Editor on 'Daybreak'.
The 'GMTV' host insists she is delighted by the changes being made to ITV1's morning output and is looking forward to tackling lighter interview subjects in the future.
She said: "I've been given a brand-new position as Entertainment Editor and I'm absolutely thrilled.
In the last ten years at 'GMTV', I've debated with three prime ministers, travelled five continents and shared the experiences of people at the heart of a decade of news events. But, I must admit, that while I've loved debating financial policy with Gordon Brown and wading knee-deep in flood waters and the like on big stories, I am rather relishing the chance in my new job of curling up to chat with the likes of Brad Pitt. Wouldn't you?"
Though the presenter is looking forward to working alongside new hosts Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, she admits she will miss colleague Ben Shephard when he leaves 'GMTV' this week.
She added in hr column for new! magazine: "I'm really looking forward to working with my new colleagues, Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, and making 'Daybreak' a massive success.
"It's a bittersweet time for me at work at the moment, because my friend Ben Shephard is about to leave. It's going to be very emotional saying goodbye."
