Alex Jones shocked by The One
New 'The One Show' host Alex Jones admits she is still shocked she has landed the job as Christine Bleakley's replacement on the daily magazine style show
Alex Jones is still shocked she landed the job presenting 'The One Show'.
The Welsh host is thrilled to be stepping in to replace Christine Bleakley on the BBC magazine-style show, and admits it's like a dream come true.
She said: "You only dream of things like this happening. I will have to move to London. It's like a new world. And although I've been presenting for 10 years in Wales, the thought of sitting on 'The One Show' sofa is amazing."
Since being announced as the new female host of the popular programme, the 32-year-old beauty has been regularly compared to her predecessor - who is making the move to ITV with former 'One Show' host Adrian Chiles.
Despite these recent comparisons, Alex admits her family members have been shocked by the similarity between the two women for years.
She explained to The Sun newspaper: "My grandfather congratulated me when Christine first started on 'The One Show'. He went, 'Oh brilliant Alex, you've got the job on the BBC'. But of course he was watching Christine. At least now he will be able to watch me on it."
Alex and her new host Jason Manford will now start work on the show on August 16.
The brunette star admits she isn't nervous about appearing in front of the cameras because she gets on so well with Jason and the TV show's crew.
She added: "I'm not nervous about starting the job in that respect because it's such a good team. Jason is such a nice guy. He's down -to-earth as well."
