Sky Sports presenter Ben Shephard
Ben Shephard is to move from ITV to front football coverage on Sky Sports
Ben Shephard has signed on to present football on Sky Sports.
The 'GMTV' frontman will now work on live soccer matches after agreeing a deal thought to be worth £495,000 a year with the sports channel.
It is believed the 35-year-old is being groomed to replace 53-year-old Richard Keys, who has worked on the channel since 1992.
A channel insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "We have 100s of matches every season and Ben's remit will not encroach upon Richard's."
A second source added: "Whatever way you look at it, it's a huge coup to get Ben Shephard onto the channel and Sky will want value for money and to promote him wherever possible.
"He was one of the most-known faces on ITV broadcasting to millions of people every week. Many viewers may feel that Ben is ideal to take over from Richard when he decides to step down."
Ben finishes working on 'GMTV' on Friday (30.07.10), and is being replaced by Adrian Chiles, who will front new ITV morning show 'Daybreak' alongside former BBC colleague Christine Bleakley.
