Alex Jones: The One
Christine Bleakley is being replaced by Welsh presenter Alex Jones on 'The One Show'
Christine Bleakley's 'The One Show' replacement has been announced.
Welsh presenter Alex Jones, 32, will take up the sofa on the BBC show alongside comedian Jason Manford, as both Christine and fellow 'One Show' stalwart Adrian Chiles have moved to work on ITV.
Alex said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to bits. I watch the show at home every night on my sofa and can't believe I'm now swapping it for 'The One Show' sofa".
Alex is best known for presenting travel show 'Chwa' in her native Wales, where she undertakes a number of extreme sports. She also works on style show 'Salon'.
Jason revealed tests with Alex "felt special", leading to her casting.
He said: "After meeting so many brilliant presenters Alex just felt really special. She is going to be brill and we can't wait to start the show together."
The show's editor, Sandy Smith, added: "Alex is warm, funny and very experienced despite being almost unknown outside Wales.
"It feels right for many reasons to be developing someone new at this time and I hope 'The One Show' viewers enjoy seeing her relationship with Jason develop on screen and take her to their hearts."
Alex is set to start on 'The One Show' on August 16,while Christine and Adrian will begin their shifts on new revamped version of 'GMTV' - called 'Daybreak' - in September.
