Kasabian

Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has revealed his band were ''always destined'' to headline festivals, as they feel so comfortable performing to large crowds

Kasabian were "always destined" to headline festivals.

The 'Fire' hitmakers - who topped the bill at last month's T in the Park in Scotland and are set to headline the upcoming V Festival - insist they don't get nervous when performing in front of large crowds because they are so comfortable on stage.

Frontman Tom Meighan said: "Kasabian were always destined for it. When I walked out on the T in the Park stage, I felt like I was Julius Caesar when he stood up in Rome!

"People were going mental as we walked out. I think we were always meant for that moment."

Despite their staggering success, Tom insists the group remain as down-to-earth as ever, even though they have achieved everything they always dreamed of in the last 12 months.

He told The Sun newspaper: "This year is everything we dreamt of when we all lived on a farm. But we're taking it in our stride.

"No one has got too big for their boots. We play the same way to 80,000 people as we would if it was just 80.

"Whether we were the first band on at Glastonbury in 2004 or one of the big bands last year, we were meant for it and it feels right."
