British band The Libertines are to perform an intimate gig at London's Forum venue as a warm-up to their appearances at this summer's Reading and Leeds festivals
The Libertines are to play an intimate London gig as a festival warm-up.
The British rockers - who split in 2004 shortly after firing troubled co-frontman Pete Doherty over his drug use - will take to the stage at the London Forum ahead of the band's high-profile reunion performances at Reading and Leeds festivals at the end of August.
However, singer Carl Barat admitted the group haven't rehearsed together since they announced their reformation in March.
He told BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat: "It's always a bit last minute with The Libertines. If we did it any other way it wouldn't be The Libertines.
"We've got a bit of time blocked out. As I say it's a bit last minute - it always is. Of course we'll be able to do it and we'll be able to do it with aplomb."
The 'Can't Stand Me Now' hitmakers haven't yet set a date for the warm-up show - which will be their first public performance since the band split - and revealed they are feeling nervous about their upcoming festival appearances.
Carl said: "Obviously, it's always nerve-wracking. But again that's all part of what it is to be in that band. Overall I'm excited, and that's starting to come through a lot more now. It started off as pure nerves. Now I'm starting to look forward to it."
