Tom Cruises onto Top Gear
Tom Cruise is to appear on BBC2's 'Top Gear' as the ''star in a reasonably priced car'' after contacting the show himself.
Tom Cruise is to appear on 'Top Gear' as the "star in a reasonably priced car".
The motor-mad Hollywood star is due to take his test drive later today (22.07.10) around a circuit in Surrey, which will be aired on an upcoming episode of the popular BBC Two motoring show.
The 'Top Gun' actor will also be joined by star Cameron Diaz in a lap race whilst trying out a Kia vehicle.
Tom - who owns a fleet of fast sports car and loves stock-car racing - contacted the show himself after watching the TV show at home.
The competitive star will hope to beat 'Harry Potter' star Rupert Grint who so far holds the fastest lap time for driving a Kia.
A show source said: "We've had some big names tearing around in our reasonably priced car, but Tom has to be up there as the biggest.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Tom and Cameron are over in Britain for the premiere of their new movie 'Knight and Day'. Tom knew we were filming so asked if he could give the old Kia a whirl. Cameron was up for it too so we're getting two A-list stars for one show. Jeremy Clarkson and the boys couldn't be happier."
Even though 'Top Gear' has bagged some of the biggest Hollywood stars - ambitious presenter Richard Hammond wants Angelina Jolie to co-host the hit show.
He believes the 'Tomb Raider' actress would be the best choice of co-presenter because she is a tomboy and wouldn't "get on his t**s".
Richard told Britain's Zoo magazine: "If we had to have a female co-host, I think we'd all choose Angelina Jolie.
"She's the anti-Jennifer Aniston, who gets right on my t**s. Aniston's a well-polished chick, but Angelina has a Land Rover and guns. She'd be ideal for 'Top Gear', but I'd just keep fainting. She's utterly, utterly gorgeous."
