Paul Weller and Corinne Bailey Rae are hoping to work together, but are struggling to find the time to fit in a collaboration
Paul Weller wants to duet with Corinne Bailey Rae.
The 'No Tears to Cry' singer is a big fan of the 'Put Your Records On' hitmaker and would love to work with her, but admits their schedules have so far kept them apart.
He said: "We've been trying to do something together live for a while but it hasn't worked out, Corinne has been on the road or whatever. But hopefully I'd like to at some point, I really like her voice."
The 52-year-old rocker has enjoyed huge critical acclaim for his latest LP 'Wake Up The Nation' - which was nominated for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize yesterday (20.07.20) - and believes his willingness to embrace change is the key to his continued success.
He added to BANG Showbiz: "I think even more so in my old age, I think it's the responsibility of the artist to change. It's great at the moment for me because a whole cross section of ages and different people come to see my show, what else could you ask for?"
Paul - who is nicknamed 'The Modfather' - is close friends with former Oasis rockers Liam and Noel Gallagher and though he hasn't heard the music the brothers have been recording since going their separate ways, he believes it will match the quality of their previous efforts.
He said: "I haven't heard Noel's stuff yet, or Liam's group Beady Eye. I know people who have heard Liam's and they've said it's really good."
