Eileen Grimshaw's summer of romance
'Coronation Street's unlucky-in-love Eileen Grimshaw is set to enjoy a flirtation with a mystery man, but it won't all be smooth sailing, says actress Sue Cleaver.
'Coronation Street's Eileen Grimshaw is to enjoy a summer romance.
The unlucky-in-love mother-of-two - who has dated a string of bad boys throughout her ten-year history on the popular ITV1 soap - is set to fall for a new man, but the couple's relationship won't necessarily run smoothly.
Sue Cleaver - who plays the character - told Inside Soap magazine: "Eileen's been having a slight flirtation in the scenes I've just been filming, and she's very keen on this guy, though it isn't going to be smooth sailing.
"I don't know why she's so unlucky in love, but she does make some really bad choices. She goes for smarmy charmers and bad boys. It's happened so many times that Eileen just cleans the slate and moves on."
However, the plucky cab operator is set to give screen colleagues Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles) their comeuppance by showing them she's a force to be reckoned with in the business world.
Sue explained: "She has a plan to change her life, and part of it involves buying into Streetcars. She does all the work anyway! The boys take advantage of that, even if Eileen gives as good as she gets.
"There's an upcoming scene involving Steve, Lloyd and cream cakes. Eileen's got great aim!"
