Cheryl Cole puts off X return
Singer Cheryl Cole will not return to 'The X Factor' until the live shows after contracting Malaria while on holiday last month
Cheryl Cole will not be returning to 'The X Factor' until the final live shows.
The singer-turned-talent judge has been instructed by doctors to take time off to recover from Malaria - which she is believed to have contracted during a holiday in Tanzania with her close friend Derek Hough last month - and has now been signed off work for two months.
An 'X Factor' spokesperson told Mail Online: "Our priority is to ensure Cheryl is fit and well before she returns to work and to give our contestants a fair and proper opportunity to compete in the show."
Crisis meetings are going to decide if a second guest judge needs to be brought in to cover Cheryl in addition to her fellow judge Dannii Minogue, who is currently on maternity leave after giving birth to her new son Ethan last week.
Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, pop star Katy Perry and Cheryl's band mate Kimberley Walsh have been shortlisted to cover her during the boot camp auditions.
Cheryl was also set to perform at V Festival on August 21 but has since cancelled her appearance.
Her spokesperson added: "Following medical advice Cheryl will not be able to take part in X Factor's boot camp stage or perform at V."
