N-Dubz's 'X Factor' rant
N-Dubz singer Dappy has slammed ITV1's 'The X Factor' show for allowing wannabe popstars to ''cheat'' their way to success.
N-Dubz's Dappy has slammed ITV1's 'X Factor' show for allowing wannabe popstars to cheat their way to success.
The rapper claims the singers are fast-tracked to fame, while genuine acts like his end up struggling for years before they make it as artists.
He told The Sun newspaper: "You're standing in a queue to do an audition and the minute you come out of the queue you're a star - and it's cheating.
"Acts like us struggle for 10 whole years. We go to 30 or 40 record labels, all our lives everyone says 'No'.
"We finally do it by taking every last penny from our pockets to make our videos and slowly create a buzz."
Winners Joe McElderry and Alexandra Burke were in the star's firing line as being "undeserving" for being handed success on a plate and judge Cheryl Cole, 27, was criticised for lip-synching on the show last year.
Despite his rant, the outspoken star did admit the TV show was entertaining and global popstar Leona Lewis was a deserved winner of the contest.
He said: "'X Factor' is great and people like Leona Lewis are great but other than that it's cheating."
N-Dubz, which also includes his cousin Tulisa and Fazer, formed in North London 10 years ago but did not get an album deal until 2008.
