Alfie Moon shines on Queen Vic
Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) will reportedly regain control of the Queen Vic when he and wife Kat (Jessie Wallace) return to 'EastEnders'
Alfie Moon will run the Queen Vic on 'EastEnders' again.
The popular character - played by Shane Richie - is set to return to Albert Square with wife Kat (Jessie Wallace) later this year, and though the reason for their return is shrouded in mystery, it will reportedly coincide with the rebuilding of the iconic pub, which is set to burn down later this year.
A source said: "People know Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) is leaving and now they know about the blaze but what they don't know is it coincides with Alfie and Kat coming back.
"He used to be landlord and will get back control of the boozer, albeit in a terrible state after the fire."
The flames will reportedly be started deliberately by a famous character, but show bosses are undecided as to how the pub will be rebuilt to fit with Alfie's ambitious plans.
The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Alfie has big plans and wants to bring the Queen Vic back in all its glory so it will be busier than ever and make a fortune.
"That could mean it goes upmarket, selling more wine and posh food.
"Or he could try and make it more of a traditional boozer but without the dodgy carpet and tired furniture."
Show bosses have refused to confirm Alfie and Kat's on-screen return date, but insiders believe the fire scenes will be filmed later this month, meaning the couple are likely to return by September.
