Rocker Bret Michaels and legendary singer Harry Connick Jr. are reportedly being lined up by 'American Idol' producers to take the place of ex-judge Simon Cowell
Bret Michaels and Harry Connick Junior are battling it out to become the next 'American Idol' judge.
The iconic US music veterans - who both have had careers spanning the decades - are reportedly being lined up by producers of the hit ITV1 show to replace Simon Cowell for the next series, which is set to begin this summer.
The lead singer of Poison and the legendary crooner have both spoken to 'American Idol' bosses about potentially taking up the role which was filled by the music mogul until earlier this year.
Existing judge Kara DioGuardi has backed Harry after he recently helped out on the reality show.
According to The Sun newspaper, she said: "The way that he worked with the contestants. he really cared about them. I thought he was really, really great."
Simon announced his departure from the show - which has spawned talents such as Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood - in January, after he announced he would be taking 'The X Factor' to the US.
