Ben Shephard's early GMTV departure
'GMTV' presenter Ben Shephard is to leave the ITV1 morning show earlier than planned so he can take part in a charity run across Britain.
Ben Shephard is to quit 'GMTV' earlier than planned.
The 35-year-old presenter - who was recently replaced on the popular ITV1 daytime show by former 'The One Show' frontman Adrian Chiles - has brought forward his departure so he can run across Britain for charity.
Ben had originally planned to leave the show - which he joined in 2000 when he began presenting 'Entertainment Today' - in September, but instead will quit in July so he can spend the summer with his young family and focus on his latest challenge.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Ben thought it would be better to go out on a high."
Ben and his wife Annie have two sons together, Samuel Peter, five, and three-year-old Jack.
Sources at the ITV1 show recently revealed the presenter was frustrated about a lack of communication from 'GMTV' bosses when it was announced Adrian Chiles would be joining the team.
They explained: "Obviously, he felt it was untenable to stay and wait to see what was happening with his job. It was clear that he felt that he had to jump before he was pushed.
"Ben is still a face for ITV and I'm sure he will front other shows for them."
