Steve Carell has confirmed he is quitting 'The Office'.

The 47-year-old funnyman - who has played Michael Scott in the US version of the hit British sitcom since 2005 - says he will leave the show following the 2010-2011 series.

He told Us Weekly magazine: "Yes, it will be my last. It's the last on my contract, and I want to honour my contract."

While the show is expected to carry on without him, Steve says he will be looking forward to spending some quality time with wife Nancy and their two children, Elisabeth, nine, and John, six.

However, he says he will miss his role as Dunder Mifflin's regional manager, especially working with the cast and crew.

Speaking about his last episode, he said: "I'm sure I'm going to be very nostalgic. I mean, these are some of my best friends in the world! But it will be good - it will be good for everybody."
