Jessie Wallace has landed a role in a show about 'Coronation Street'.
The 'EastEnders' actress is set to star in upcoming BBC Four drama 'Florizel Street' - which was the working title given to the long-running show before it was renamed in 1960 - about the early days of the 40-year-old soap.
The 38-year-old star has landed the role of Pat Phoenix, the actress who played 'tart with a heart' Elsie Tanner in the early years in Weatherfield.
Filming of the one-off show began in Manchester yesterday (28.06.10), and will see Jessie star alongside 'Absolutely Fabulous' actress Jane Horrocks - who will portray Granada TV's casting director Margaret Morris - in the show about how the ITV1 soap first began.
Jessie will join 'Absolutely Fabulous' actress Jane Horrocks who will play the role of Granada TV's casting director Margaret Morris.
Richard Klein, controller Controller of BBC Four, said: "It's wonderful to have such an amazing cast to tell how the story of 'Coronation Street' was born. This drama tells the story of how, in 1960, British television changed forever."
Jessie is currently preparing to reprise her role as outspoken market stall worker Kat Slater in 'EastEnders' later this year, after a five-year break.
