'Coronation Street's Graeme Proctor dumps his girlfriend because he thinks she is too good for him.
The hapless butcher - played by Craig Gazey - can't believe Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) would want to be with him, and fails to confide in her with his fears, ending their relationship instead.
A source said: "Graeme is so in love with Tina that he's terrified of getting his heart broken.
"He's never had a proper relationship before and gets himself all worked up.
"He decides it would be better to end it now rather than carry on and get hurt a few months down the line.
"He still can't believe Tina loves him too. She's the prettiest girl on the Street and she's in his bed. He's convinced she's only with him until someone better comes along."
However, Tina refuses to accept his decision and is amazed when she discovers his insecurity.
The source added to the Daily Star newspaper: "Tina doesn't take his strong words lying down and decides to have it out with him.
"She can't believe what he thinks and is furious that he doesn't know her by now. If he did he'd realise he is all that she wants.
"It's going to be a difficult time for them both. And viewers will have to wait and see whether or not they can come through it."
