A source told The Sun newspaper: "Viewers will be shocked by the storyline, but it will be handled with sensitivity."
Rachel's departure from 'Coronation Street' was announced in April.
At the time, producer Phil Collinson promised "a really big, memorable exit" for Natasha.
He revealed "She will leave behind a trail of devastation - a real testament to the impact Rachel as Natasha has had on many lives in our community."
