'EastEnders' Queen Vic pub is going to burn down.
The Albert Square public house - which is one of soap's most iconic locations - will reportedly go up in smoke this summer, leaving viewers wondering whether former landlady Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) will perish in the blaze.
An insider at the BBC One show told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It's set to be a spectacular episode. No one knows yet if Peggy dies in the fire but they are also writing out a host of other characters, so there is a good chance someone will be killed off when the Vic burns."
Soap veteran Barbara - who has played legendary barmaid Peggy for 16 years - is set to leave the hit show this summer.
In April it was announced that a further six characters, including Charlie Slater (Derek Martin), Libby Fox (Belinda Owusu) and Minty (Cliff Parisi), would also be written out of the soap - sparking further rumours their departures could also be involved in the fire plot.
Legendary 72-year-old actress Barbara announced she would be leaving 'EastEnders' for good in October last year.
She said: "'EastEnders' has been wonderful to me and it's no secret that it changed my life all of those years ago.
"I'll be so sad to leave Peggy behind; she's such a wonderful character to play. I have had the pleasure of working with a marvellous cast and crew and have made many lasting good friends."
