Gail Porter admits she misses being bald because she has to spend money on shampoo again
Gail Porter misses being bald.
The 39-year-old star - whose hair started growing back in September 2009 after suffering from alopecia for four years - admits she is struggling to adjust to her new hair, but the locks are making her feel "much more confident".
She said: "In a weird way I miss being bald because I'll now have to spend a fortune on shampoo and waxing again! I was at lunch the other day when I noticed I had hairy armpits! I was so horrified I had to rush out to buy a razor and shave them in the loos!
"I still cannot believe it's back, and brunette at that - I've had to bleach it! I keep touching it and I'm so much more confident now - it's grown back super-thick and I love it."
The TV presenter - who has lost more than a stone and dropped two dress sizes since January - revealed her musician boyfriend Jonny Davis has had a lot to do with her increased self-confidence.
She explained to Closer magazine: "Jonny can't keep his hands off me, it's great! He keeps looking at me in my underwear and saying: 'Wow, look at you, look at that bum!' He's been so complimentary and positive about my weight loss, it's made me really confident, sexy and happy with my new look."
However, Gail - who has battled with stress, drugs and post-natal depression in the past after having her daughter Honey, eight, from a previous relationship with Dan Hipgrave - admits there is still one part of her body she is not happy with.
She said: "I've still got a pot belly since having Honey, so I do 100 sit-ups in front of the TV every night, stopping at 50 to take a sip of red wine! My tummy's definitely starting to look tighter."
