Simon Cowell cancels guests
Simon Cowell has scrapped the 'X Factor' guest judge slot from this week's London auditions in response to the hostile response Geri Halliwell and Natalie Imbruglia received.
Simon Cowell has axed the 'X Factor' guest judge slot from this week's London auditions.
It is believed the music mogul made the move after previous stand-in judges Natalie Imbruglia and Geri Halliwell flopped with audiences in Glasgow and Birmingham when standing in for pregnant Dannii Minogue on the panel.
An 'X Factor' insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Simon just wants to go back to basics. This will mean the start of the show is all about the singing. The standard looks really high this year."
However, 'California Gurls' hitmaker Katy Perry and British pop sensation Pixie Lott are still scheduled to help out at a later stage in the popular talent competition.
Former Spice Girl Geri was booed by audiences in Glasgow and criticised for being "mean" to the wannabe stars recently.
One source said: "It all started well for Geri and then she blew it. She was quite mean. Even the other judges were a bit taken aback by some of her comments. She even outdid Simon Cowell. Some people were saying, 'Thank God she's only a stand-in.' "
'Torn' singer Natalie Imbruglia was met by an equally hostile crowd, with some audience members shouting "one-hit wonder" at the Australian brunette.
One told BANG Showbiz: "Natalie really was awful. She wasn't in tune with what we were all thinking and made some odd decisions. I can't wait for Dannii to return."
