Denise Welch battled for Bev
'Loose Women' panellist Denise Welch helped her close pal, 'Coronation Street's Beverley Callard battle through her problems with depression.
Denise Welch helped Beverley Callard get through her depression.
The 'Loose Women' star - who has been friends with the 53-year-old actress since they worked together in 'Coronation Street' - noticed her close pal was unwell very early on, and was "amazing" at helping Beverley get over her illness.
Beverley said: "The first time I had depression, I was working with Denise on 'Coronation Street'. She actually knew I had it before I did. She knew the signs. She's an amazing friend to me - and I am to her. We've both had our struggles but fortunately we've always been able to be strong for each other, even when we could be for ourselves."
Beverley has recently celebrated becoming engaged to her boyfriend of seven years, Jon McEwen - who has stayed by her side throughout her recent struggles with the mental illness.
Jon admits Denise's actor husband Tim Healy has been his own personal rock during the difficult period.
He added to OK! magazine: "He was incredible. We used to go out every week on our bikes and we'd talk and talk. It was like he knew what I was thinking."
