Christine Bleakley's 6m move to ITV?
'The One Show' host Christine Bleakley has reportedly signed a £6 million deal with ITV, which will see her present 'GMTV' with her former 'One Show' co-host Adrian Chiles
Christine Bleakley has reportedly signed a £6 million deal with ITV.
The TV presenter is believed to have negotiated the enormous sum so she can present the network's morning show 'GMTV' with her former 'The One Show' co-host Adrian Chiles.
The brunette beauty apparently made the decision to leave after sacking her agent by text message.
Bosses at the network have now reportedly offered her huge money to front the show as well as become the female face of 2012's Olympics in London, increasing her salary dramatically from the reported £90,000 she received at the BBC.
However, insiders believe Christine - whose contract with the BBC ends in September - has been "short-sighted.
A TV insider told the News of the World newspaper: "This shows how ruthlessly ambitious Christine is. She went to ITV for the money but could have earned a fortune at the BBC in the next few years. She'll now be getting up at 3am five times a week for 'GMTV'. If she had stayed, she would still have been very rich and she would have been the face of the Olympics. I'm amazed she's been so short-sighted."
In April, Christine's former co-host Adrian Chiles left the network in a similar move to ITV - after Chris Evans was lined up to replace him on the Friday night episodes of 'The One Show'.
Since his departure, Adrian has always been quick to admit he wants to work with Christie again and it is believed he put her in touch with ITV's director of television, Peter Fincham, directly.
If Christine does make the move, current presenters Kate Garraway and Emma Crosby are likely to leave the show.
