Julie Hesmondhalgh's 'lazy' colleagues
Julie Hesmondhalgh has revealed she and her fellow 'Coronation Street' cast members are lazy, but worry about when they can find the time to see their children
Julie Hesmondhalgh believes her 'Coronation Street' co-stars are "lazy".
The 40-year-old actress - who plays transsexual Hayley Cropper in the soap - has revealed she doesn't like working long hours and often worries about her career getting in the way of being a mum to her eight-year-old daughter Martha Mo.
She told BANG Showbiz: "To be completely honest we're all so lazy.
"We're like, 'Ohh, how long's that gonna take? Errr, is there going to be night shoots? Oh bl**dy hell. Oh God. When am I gonna see me kids?"
Despite not always enjoying long hours, the mum-of-one admits she realised how "exciting" the 'Siege' storyline - in which Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien) takes Hayley and Carla Connor (Alison King) hostage in the factory with a gun - had been as soon as she'd finished filming.
She explained at an advanced screening of the explosive episodes: "Afterwards - having seen it back - we're thrilled to have been a part of it.
"I was so relieved to get out of there and finish filming. But when I watched it back I was sad to have left the action."
The 'Siege' episodes - which were expected to be aired on ITV every night this week - were cancelled yesterday (02.06.10) after gunman Derrick Bird's went on a rampage in Cumbria, killing 12 people.
An ITV spokesperson said: "Following the tragic events in Cumbria yesterday, both Wednesday and Thursday's Coronation Street episodes have been postponed."
