British comedian Jason Manford has been confirmed as the replacement for Adrian Chiles on 'The One Show'
Jason Manford has been confirmed as the new host of 'The One Show'.
The British comedian has beaten off competition from a range of presenters - including Chris Hollins, Richard Hammond, Andrew Castle, Matt Baker and Richard Madeley - to replace Adrian Chiles on the BBC's flagship early evening show alongside Christine Bleakley.
Jason said: "I am thrilled to be part of 'The One Show' team. My Dad put £10 at 500/1 that I'd get the job so it just made sense."
The comic is said to be receiving a "fraction" of the departing host's rumoured £1 million salary, with insiders saying it was "not a six-figure deal".
Producers on the programme believe the 29-year-old star - who will front the show Monday to Thursdays - has the ideal personality to partner Christine on the programme.
'The One Show' editor Sandy Smith said: "Jason's strength is his likeability, his natural warmth and his quick wit.
"He's intelligent and curious about the sort of subjects discussed every day on The One Show and is equally at home with the light-hearted and the serious issues."
Chris Evans will co-host the show on Fridays.
