Adrian Chiles offers Bleakley 1m
Adrian Chiles has apparently begged ITV bosses to offer his former 'The One Show' co-host Christine Bleakley £1 million to move with him to 'GMTV'
Adrian Chiles persuaded ITV to offer Christine Bleakley £1 million to move to 'GMTV'.
The presenter is apparently so desperate to be joined on the sofa of ITV1's morning show, he has begged bosses to come up with the enormous sum to encourage his former 'The One Show' co-host to leave the BBC.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Adrian really wants Christine to follow him over to 'GMTV'. She is the one thing he misses at the BBC."
Christine's contract is due for renewal in October, and the giant yearly offer is a huge raise from her current £100,000 salary at the BBC.
The BBC are still searching for Adrian's permanent replacement on the daily magazine style show, but comedian Jason Manford is believed to be in talks with programme bosses.
Adrian left 'The One' show earlier this year in a £6 million, four-year deal with ITV, which will also see him front the network's coverage of this summer's World Cup soccer competition in South Africa.
Adrian was reportedly keen to make the move after the BBC hired Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans to replace him on 'The One Show's Friday evening episodes.
