'Coronation Street' actor Bill Roache is set to be joined on the soap by his real-life children Linus and James
Bill Roache's sons are set to join him in 'Coronation Street'.
The veteran actor - who has played the character of Ken Barlow since the show first hit television screens in 1960 - will see his real-life children Linus, 46, and 24-year-old James appear on the Street as part of the soap's 50th birthday celebrations.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The idea is to use Ken's character to explore the soap over the past 50 years. It will be like a trip down memory lane with a modern feel."
While the details are being kept under wraps by the show's bosses, fans predict the pair may play younger versions of Ken.
Bill said: "I can think of no better way to celebrate my 50th anniversary on 'Coronation Street' than to be working alongside both of my sons. I am looking forward to it immensely."
The storyline involving will be unveiled in September, with a dark family secret revealed when an old letter is discovered during building work at the Barlow home.
The 78-year-old actor is the longest-serving member of the 'Coronation Street' team and has always been praised greatly by his co-stars.
Former 'Dynasty' actress Stephanie Beacham - who had a brief stint on the soap earlier in the year - recently revealed she misses working alongside Bill.
She stated: "I adored working with old Bill Roache. I miss him but life goes on and I have so much admiration for him."
