The stars of 'Coronation Street' and 'Emmerdale' came out in force yesterday (16.05.10) for the Great Manchester Run.

Tony Audenshaw - who plays Bob Shaw in 'Emmerdale' - and 'Coronation Street's Vicky Binns, who plays Molly Dobbs, were among those taking part in the 10km charity race and wanted to raise as much money as possible.

Tony, who ran on behalf of Leukaemia And Lymphoma Research, said of the experience: "The collection of energy and anticipation from the runners is matched on the way around by the support of the crowd - making a wonderful collective experience. The Great Run Series epitomises this."

Vicky quipped: "I now realise it's inevitable I will spend the majority of a race being overtaken often by a giant banana!"

Other soap favourites to take part included 'Emmerdale' stars Nicola Wheeler (Nicola De Souza), Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle) and Chris Chittell (Eric Pollard).

'Coronation Street' had plenty of famous participants as well, including Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby), Samia Smith (Maria Connor), and former star Denise Welch.
