Claire Cooper's Jacqui doubts
Claire Cooper doesn't think her 'Hollyoaks' character Jacqui McQueen is Calvin Valentine's (Ricky Whittle) murderer
Claire Cooper doesn't think her 'Hollyoaks' character is Calvin Valentine's murderer.
The actress' alter ego Jacqui McQueen is one of several suspects in the shooting of the former policeman - played by Ricky Whittle - but the brunette beauty doubts the mouthy beautician would be so calculating as to plot his death.
She said: "I don't think she's capable of cold-blooded murder but I think she is capable of protecting her family. If that was someone running at her with the gun she would pull the trigger first but I don't think she would actively pull the trigger on someone. She's brighter than that and she's a bit more clued up, it doesn't matter what someone's done to her. I think she'd rather be more torturous to them."
Calvin's death was first screened in a special flash-forward episode last year, and this week's episodes show the lead up to his wedding to Jacqui's sister Carmel (Gemma Merna), culminating in his death at their reception, when the killer will be revealed.
While Jacqui is furious that Calvin has been having an affair with her other sibling Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe), Claire doesn't believe she wants him dead - but does want someone outside of her family to frighten the club owner.
She added to DigitalSpy: "I don't think she'd like the killer to be any of her family. She's kind of pushing Malachy to do it so - if anyone - maybe him. I don't think she wants him dead. Genuinely, if she could choose she wouldn't pick anybody. She just wants somebody to put the fear of God into him."
