'Emmerdale' actress Sammy Winward used to get bullied in school, but was defended by her older sister Amy
Sammy Winward used to get bullied when she was younger.
The 'Emmerdale' beauty was a target when she first started school, but fortunately her big sister Amy was there to stand up for her.
Amy, 26, told Cosmopolitan magazine: "I was very protective of Sammy when she was younger. She was picked on a bit at school, so I'd go and meet her at the school gate to make sure she was OK."
Sammy, who plays Katie Sugden in the ITV soap, appreciates her "protective" sister helping her out.
She said: "She's very protective. I remember on my first few days of school, someone wanted to beat me up and Amy had it fixed before I'd even heard about it."
Despite being close now, the pair have faced their fair share of sibling disputes in the past.
Sammy said: "Our worst argument happened in our early teens when I beat her at a computer game. She hit me with the control and I threw it back at her and accidentally bust her lip. I had to lock myself in my room for hours until she calmed down!"
Sammy is currently planning to leave 'Emmerdale' for a 12 month hiatus whilst she focuses on a long-term modelling career.
