America Ferrera thanks trendy Betty
America Ferrera claims to have no interest in fashion and only learned about style through her role on 'Ugly Betty'.
America Ferrera claims 'Ugly Betty' made her fashionable.
The 26-year-old character - who plays lead character Betty Suarez in the hit US sit-com - insists she has no major interest in fashion but learned about her own personal style through working on the show.
She explained: "I'm not passionate about fashion. Everything I know about fashion I learned from the show and working with the stylist, Patricia Field, who is amazing.
"I learned a lot but I have to say I don't incorporate it into my own life. I'm not a fashion-obsessed person.
"When I try to be fashionable, I feel like a kid playing dress up."
The actress feels the impending ending of 'Ugly Betty' will be "bittersweet" but is looking forward to moving on with her career.
She added in an interview with The Metro newspaper: "It's bittersweet. It's been a part of my life for four years, essentially my whole adult life. At the same time, it will always be something that changed my life and changed my career."
Meanwhile, America's co-star Eric Mabius has joined the cast of new BBC One drama series 'Outcasts'.
The programme - which also stars 'Hustle' actor Ashley Walters and 'Clash of the Titans' star Liam Cunningham - is currently being filmed in South Africa and follows a group of pioneers who move to Forthaven, a town on the distant planet Carpathia, to start a new life.
Jane Featherstone, creative director of production company Kudos, said: "We are over the moon with the line up on 'Outcasts' - a group of actors so strong and diverse that I think we'll be desperate to watch as they tackle their brave new world."
