Andrew Castle The One?
'GMTV' presenter Andrew Castle is being considered as a replacement for 'The One Show' host Adrian Chiles
Andrew Castle may replace 'The One Show' host Adrian Chiles.
The 'GMTV' presenter - whose future at ITV remains unclear now Adrian is joining the team - is reportedly interested in making a move to the early evening programme where he would star alongside Christine Bleakley.
A source told the Mail Online: "'The One Show' have made enquiries - and Andrew is interested. After all, it is a hugely successful programme and it would be a new challenge for him."
Andrew's position at 'GMTV' has come under threat following Adrian's £6 million four-year deal with ITV, which will see him become the main anchor on the revamped morning show from September, as well as hosting this summer's World Cup football coverage. Although Andrew is currently under contract to 'GMTV', he has still been allowed to work annually for the BBC as one of the main commentators for the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
The source continued: "Andrew's always enjoyed working for the BBC during Wimbledon - and they know him very well from it."
If Andrew, 46, remains at 'GMTV', it is thought he would only be kept as a 'B-role' presenter, acting as cover for Adrian.
The source added: "Andrew is not sure if that would be the right move for him. He might think it's time to make a change rather than being, in effect, a stand-in."
Other names which have been suggested for the role are 'Top Gear's Richard Hammond, Radio 5 Live presenter Richard Bacon and the former 'This Morning' host Richard Madeley.
