Brian Fortuna praises Strictly matchmaking
'Strictly Come Dancing' star Brian Fortuna believes the producers of the show are excellent matchmakers and is thankfully they paired him up with his girlfriend Ali Bastian.
Brian Fortuna believes the 'Strictly Come Dancing' producers are great matchmakers.
The professional dancer - who was paired with former 'The Bill' actress Ali Bastian on the series last year and has been dating her ever since - has praised executives on the show for getting their "physical and personal compatibility" just right.
He said: "I never thought I'd fall in love with an English girl. The 'Strictly' producers pair people up according to physical and personal compatibility, which involves a lot of guessing. But they got it right in our case."
Although Brian and Ali are very settled in their relationship, the 27-year-old ballroom dancer finds it amusing when people question his sexuality.
He explained to Mail Online: "A lot of people assume I'm gay.
"Hold on. I'm not actually gay. I saw Ali and thought she was beautiful. Our relationship just developed organically."
Brian and Ali are not the only celebrity couple pleased with the matchmaking skills of ITV bosses.
Professional dancer Kristina Rihanoff was terrified when she first heard she would be teamed with her now-boyfriend, former boxer Joe Calzaghe in 2009's competition.
She said: "I'd never heard of him. But when it was explained he was a champion boxer, I was anxious. A friend of mine was paired with US boxing champion Floyd Mayweather on 'Dancing With The Stars' in America and said he was a nightmare.
"But when we met, Joe was so shy it melted my heart. He wasn't at all how I expected. He's a real contradiction. In the ring, he's such a tough guy; out of it, he's a humble, sweet man."
