'Coronation Street' hairdresser Natasha Blakeman is to commit suicide.
The character, played by Rachel Leskovac, will take her own life after her engagement to factory boss Nick Tilsley breaks down and her plot to out her boss, Audrey Roberts, from her hair salon backfires.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Viewers will be shocked by the storyline, but it will be handled with sensitivity."
Although viewers are used to seeing the bubbly blonde's softer side, new producer Phil Collinson has revealed Natasha will "leave behind a trail of devastation" before she exits the soap after her secret mean streak is revealed.
She will delight in telling Nick (Ben Price) of his ex-wife Leanne Battersby's past in the sex business after and is due to lead a campaign against Audrey (Sue Nicholls) claiming that at 70 she is too old to run her salon.
Rachel, 33, is the latest character to be axed by Phil Collinson and will exit the soap after two years.
The news of her axing comes in the wake of soap couple Ashley and Claire Peacock - played by Steven Arnold and Julia Haworth - who will also exit from the soap in the build up to the show's 50th anniversary in December.
