Peggy Mitchell to have 'epic' exit
'EastEnders' story producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has revealed Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) is going have an ''epic'' exit from 'EastEnders' later this year.
Peggy Mitchell is going have an "epic" exit from 'EastEnders'.
The soap's story producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins insists fans won't be disappointed by the Walford matriarch's departure later this year, following Barbara Windsor's decision to quit the BBC One series.
Simon Ashdown, the show's lead writer and consultant, is set to pen the storyline and Peggy will leave Albert Square with a bang.
Speaking to website Walford Web, Dominic confirmed: "We've storylined Barbara's exit and that's going to be epic and moving - Simon's already chomping at the bit to write those episodes."
Dominic also revealed the end of Peggy won't mean the end of the Mitchell clan, and Peggy's niece Ronnie (Samantha Womack) in particular is set to be part of a major storyline.
He added: "It's a huge loss, but the show - and the Mitchells - will keep going. We've actually got an amazing story for the Mitchells over the next year or so. And maybe even some joy for Ronnie! It's time to give the girl a break."
