Ciaran McCarthy plans speed dating event
'Coronation Street' barman Ciaran McCarthy (Keith Duffy) persuades Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) to let him run a speed dating event at the Rover's Return
Ciaran McCarthy organises a speed dating night in the Rover's Return.
The 'Coronation Street' barman - played by Boyzone star Keith Duffy - persuades landlady Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) to let him boost takings at the pub by organising an evening of matchmaking.
He tells her: "This place is like God's waiting room. Speed dating is sure to treble the number of punters, not to mention the ticket sales at a fiver a time."
In a bid to persuade more people to go along, Ciaran hired Rosie Website (Helen Flanagan) who dons hotpants and roller skates to distribute flyers.
However, his plan isn't a hit with everyone, with some of the older residents raising objections.
Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) gripes: "Speed dating is like fast food, instant gratification with a greasy aftertaste."
Keith recently reprised his role as Ciaran after a five year absence.
Despite rumours his return would be brief, the 35-year-old star has vowed to juggle his schedule to fit in his commitments to both the show and his music career.
He said: "I am happy and very excited to be working on 'Coronation Street'. I've got some great storylines coming up and whilst I do have commitments to Boyzone I have been able to combine the two things very well. I love playing Ciaran!"
