Hole in the Wall axed
Anton du Beke's game show 'Hole in the Wall' has reportedly been axed by the BBC.
'Hole in the Wall' has been axed by the BBC.
The game show - which features celebrities in silver body stockings trying to squeeze through gaps in a moving wall - has reportedly been decommissioned after just two series following a drop in ratings from 6.1 million for the launch programme to just four million last series.
A source said: "There's still a lot of affection for Hole in the Wall, but bosses thought it was time to try something else."
The news will come as a blow to the programme's host, Anton du Beke, as it comes just days after it was reported he is set to be dropped as one of the professional dancers on the next series of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
Anton - real name Tony Beak - is believed to be a casualty of planned shake-ups on the popular celebrity dance contest following the controversial incident last year when he called his partner, actress Laila Rouass, "a p**i".
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Anton won't be happy. It's an astonishing fall from grace.
"Just six months ago he was being talked about as the next big thing at the BBC. Now it looks like he could be left with nothing."
