Colin Murray replaces Chiles on MOTD2
Northern Irish radio DJ Colin Murray will replace Adrian Chiles and present BBC Two's 'Match of the Day 2' and World Cup football coverage shows
Colin Murray will replace Adrian Chiles as the host of 'Match of the Day 2'.
The Northern Irish radio DJ - who currently works on sports shows on BBC Radio Five Live - has been signed up to front the BBC's weekly football TV show as well as hosting their World Cup coverage shows in the summer.
During June and July's sporting competition in South Africa, Colin will present daily highlight shows on BBC Two at 10pm as well as hosting the weekly summary show 'Match of the Day 2' on Sunday evenings from August.
This won't be the first time the 33-year-old star has presented a TV sport show, as Colin has previously hosted football programmes on Five as well as fronting the BDO World Darts Championship for the BBC.
There had been much speculation as to who would fill in for Adrian after he announced he would be leaving the television network on Monday (19.04.10) in a £6 million move to ITV to cover the soccer competition for them and present breakfast show 'GMTV'.
Executives at the BBC are currently searching for replacements for his other ITV programmes 'The One Show' and 'The Apprentice: You're Fired' - which Clare Balding is reportedly being considered for.
Mark Chapman will now take over Colin's BBC Radio Five Live responsibilities during the soccer season in June and July, and will co-host the 5 Live Sport show with broadcaster Mark Pougatch.
