Chris Evans laughs at Chiles
Chris Evans has taken a swipe at Adrian Chiles on his BBC Radio 2 show, just days after Adrian quit the BBC for ITV over plans to replace him on Friday nights of 'The One Show'
Chris Evans has taken a swipe at Adrian Chiles on his BBC Radio 2 show.
The DJ - who caused Adrian to quit the BBC for ITV after it was announced he would replace him on Friday nights of 'The One Show' - joked to rugby stars Matt Dawson and Austin Healey he could get them screen tests to co-host the other nights with Christine Bleakley.
Dawson then said he would feel like a "warm up act" for Evans, to which the cheeky star quipped: "You are not the warm up act for me. That is what the other guy thought and look what happened to him."
BBC bosses are now said to be furious with Evans for appearing arrogant.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "This will not go unnoticed and Chris will have to explain himself. He is almost certain to get a dressing down where he will be reminded he has to be careful what he says on air, especially when referring to 'The One Show'.
"He shouldn't be seen criticising Adrian for leaving the BBC and shouldn't give the impression he is extremely influential on a series he has not yet started on. It is hugely unprofessional, the kind of thing he used to do in his boozy days on Radio 1."
Adrian quit the BBC earlier this week to join ITV in a four-year deal which will see him appear on their morning show 'GMTV' and cover the World Cup football tournament for them this summer.
He said: "The chance to front ITV's football coverage and 'GMTV' would have proved an irresistible opportunity at the best of times.
"But, coming as it did at an awkward period for me at the BBC, it made the decision to leave not quite as hard as it might have been."
