Ricky Whittle will face trial after denying a charge of dangerous driving.
The 'Hollyoaks' star - who recently filmed his final scenes as bent policeman Calvin Valentine in the Channel 4 soap - appeared in Liverpool Crown Court today (21.04.10), following an incident on November 27 last year, where he allegedly drove his car at paparazzi photographer Steve Farrell.
Whittle has been bailed until August 9, when his trial will begin and is expected to last for up to four days.
The 28-year-old TV star was arrested last November after he allegedly crashed into pedestrian Farrell - who suffered minor injuries - following a leaving party for two of his 'Hollyoaks' co-stars.
Prosecuting lawyer Paul Becker told the courtroom there was "good quality CCTV" footage of the incident, which would be shown to jurors during the trial.
Eight prosecution witnesses are also expected to give evidence.
The Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe QC, told Whittle: "It is your first obligation to be here."
At the time of his arrest, a police spokesperson confirmed: "A man from Billinge, Lancashire, has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody where he will be questioned by officers later today.
"The arrest follows an incident in which took place in Duke Street, Liverpool City Centre, in the early hours of Friday morning. The incident involved a collision with a male pedestrian."
Whittle was charged with dangerous driving one month later.
