Simon Cowell unknown to BGT contestant
'Britain's Got Talent' contestant Kevin Cruise, aka Martin Cabble, has admitted he had no idea who Simon Cowell was before he appeared on the ITV1 variety show.
'Britain's Got Talent' contestant Kevin Cruise didn't know who Simon Cowell was before appearing on the show.
Comedian Martin Cabble - who appeared as his alter-ego on the ITV show on Saturday night (17.04.10) - failed to win over the media mogul with his singing routine but claimed he didn't even understand what he was auditioning for because he'd only just returned from his cruise ship.
He said: "I swear on my life, I've never seen him before. I'm always busy and off on my ship abroad. You see, I had the ship docked at Hammersmith harbour when someone told me that there was a variety show going on up the road.
"They said that I could do a couple of minutes, which was really lovely. I went on stage for a couple of minutes and then the next thing I know, I'm being judged!"
Kevin - who wore a gold sequinned shirt and blonde wig for the audition - managed to get through to the second round after wowing Simon's fellow judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan.
The 34-year-old joker claimed Simon probably didn't want to put him through because he was jealous of his tan.
He told DigitalSpy: "Do you know what? With his teeth and his tan, put a blonde wig on him and I think he'll look just like me. We could be brothers."
Despite this, Kevin admitted he would still accept the TV star onboard his fictional cruise ship, 'The Fishy Rose'.
He added: "Do you know what? If he comes on the ship I'll give a lovely little discount. I won't give it to him for free, but I'll probably knock off £20 or something."
