Derek Hough for Strictly?
Cheryl Cole's close friend Derek Hough is reportedly lined up to be one of the professional stars on 'Strictly Come Dancing'
Derek Hough is to be one of 'Strictly Come Dancing's new professional stars.
The dancer - who is a close friend of Cheryl Cole - is reportedly keen to accept the deal, despite it meaning he would miss the next series of US show 'Dancing with the Stars', which he is currently competing on with Nicole Scherzinger.
A source said: "Derek has been asked to join 'Strictly' and he's incredibly keen to do so.
"It means missing the next season of the US show but would give him more time with Cheryl."
Derek, 24, is also said to be keen to stir up a rivalry with Cheryl - who he spent time with after she split from soccer star spouse Ashley Cole in February - who is a judge on ITV show 'The X Factor', which airs in a similar time slot to 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Derek thinks it will be fun to take Cheryl on. She's won 'the X Factor' two years running and now he wants to win."
While Derek is set to join the show, a number of professional dancers are expected to depart before the next series.
Those predicted for the axe include Anton Du Beke - who sparked a race row last year after calling partner Laila Rouass a "p**i" - and his professional partner Erin Boag, Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova.
