Penny Smith's GMTV devastation
'GMTV' host Penny Smith has admitted she is ''devastated'' to leave the ITV1 morning show
Penny Smith is "devastated" to be leaving 'GMTV'.
The 51-year-old presenter - who is planning to step down from the breakfast show in June after 17 years on the programme - has admitted she is upset about the prospect of losing her "second family".
She said: "I've randomly started going round 'GMTV' hugging everyone. The team have been like a second family to me for so many years, and it's so sad because I probably won't be able to keep in touch with everyone. I shall miss them so much, but at least I'll get some sleep finally!"
However, Penny hopes to fill her spare time by making soup.
The presenter recently dropped a dress size after embarking on a strict diet which saw her having homemade vegetable soup for breakfast and dinner, and hopes her meal plan could catch on to others.
She added to Closer magazine: "I take my soup, made from carrots, celeriac, peppers, onions and bean sprouts, into 'GMTV' in tupperware and I gorge on it for breakfast. Then, because I have to get up so early, I sleep through lunch, and for dinner I have even more soup. After that I feel stuffed and I can't eat any more.
"I could start flogging it to Sainsbury's. Can you imagine me doing the breaststroke in a bowl of mushroom soup for the ad? That would be amazing!
"I'm so obsessed with veg - I had two absolutely delicious carrots the other day and when there were none left in the fridge I had a mad panic!"
