Simon Cowell is ready to quit 'Britain's Got Talent'.
The 50-year-old music mogul admits that "something has to give" in his busy schedule and is considering stepping down from the panel of the popular show - which returns for a fourth series tonight (17.04.10) - to concentrate on launching 'The X Factor' in America.
He said: "I like the show, but it takes a hell of a lot of time and there are moments, I am not going to lie, where you are sitting there looking at these horrific acts and you actually think I genuinely can't do this any more.
"Can I see this working without me? Yes."
However, Simon admits he is also considering returning just for the finals and letting someone else judge the audition stage of the competition with current panellists Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden - though he has no idea who would be a suitable replacement.
He added: "What we're looking at is whether I come in at a later stage. It's something I'm considering for next year.
"In terms of who would replace me, I don't know to be honest with you. You have really got to know what you are talking about and you have really got to be able to spot a star."
Tonight's show sees Simon vent his frustration after seeing a series of bizarre acts including a potato-eating parrot, a man known as The Burper and a woman with a penguin puppet who also inflates rubber gloves with a teapot.
After seeing the woman's act, the head judge exclaims: "What the hell? I'm not going to be back next year. I'm not kidding. I can't do this anymore. I'm 50 years old."
'Britain's Got Talent' airs on ITV1 tonight.
