Regardless of whether you’re a Fresher or a Postgrad, there will always be essay deadlines, exams, late nights and bad diets that will leave you tired, worn out and looking a bit worse for wear. Luckily for you, we’ve sourced some of the best places to get pampered in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Make the most of student discounts and promotions and get the best from your look

Out East, Zen Lifestyle is the enviable holder of the UK Salon of the Year Award, and also lays claim to Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s Best Brazilian in Scotland title. But if you’re in the mood for something slightly more relaxing than a bikini wax, try a hot-stone massage, a revitalising facial or the almost-good-enough-to-eat Exotic Lime and Ginger Salt Glow Scrub. The salon has regular special offers available on its website and in its magazine, including free makeovers and beauty products and discounted treatments.

Elements Beauty Salon in Walker Street offers a host of facials, manicures and pedicures and St Tropez tanning – so even in the cold Scottish weather you won’t be looking pasty. It’s also open late night Tuesday and Thursday, ideal for fitting in around those late nights in library (or pub).

Students get 10% discount in Lulu Beauty Spa from Monday to Friday, and it also runs a loyalty scheme. Try something different like reflexology or an Indian scalp massage to de-stress. The boys aren’t forgotten about either – customised facials and exfoliation treatments are available, as is a full back, sack and crack wax (only for the very brave).

Across in Glasgow, Pure Spa at the Silverburn shopping centre is a great budget-friendly salon – its Treatments for a Tenner promotion includes eyelash tints and back massages, and means everyone can afford to look good. Off-peak treatments can also be booked online with considerable discounts of up to a third off.

Revival Retreat offer student discount from Monday to Wednesday, which is valid on treatments and products. Prices start at just £15 for a massage, or splash out £50 on a body overhaul package just on the doorstep of Glasgow University.

Feel like a queen (or king) for the day with a deluxe pedicure at The Beauty Store, administered in a heated leather massage throne, which you will no doubt want to take home. Complimentary green tea and pomegranate juice are all part of the package to leave you feeling fabulous inside and out. The salon also runs monthly special offers.
